Even ad blockers and privacy plugins want to track you

Everyone has an adblocker right? well at least the younger generation or those who are tech savvy do. Browser plugins like adBlock, uBlock Origin and Ghostery are must haves, they remove annoying junk, prevent slowing down and prevent tracking. You definitely want these plugins, but recently as with the case for most apps and websites there has been a movement towards sending anonymous statistics. Now thankfully this is an option and most times its off by default, but why would an ad blocker or privacy protector plugin want anonymous statistics???

why would an ad blocker or privacy protector plugin want anonymous statistics???

To me this defeats the whole purpose of the said plugin, i downloaded it to stop tracking and remain anonymous as possible. Whilst the anonymous statistics may just be what type of content im blocking or sites im disabling the plugin on, it is still a little bad taste in mouth move.

I fully understand that apps want to improve to keep users satisfied and to compete with competitors but showing an option to send anonymous data to improve the plugin is not what should be happening with privacy protectors and ad blocker plugins.
