Chine is known for its knockoffs, replicas and fakes. Some are bad (knock off knock offs) and some are pretty close to the real deal (genuine knockoff). The best fun about these markets is the bargaining or haggling. That is you can “argue” or question for a lower price.
The prices are massively high to start of, you just have to remember it costs at most a few dollars for them to manufacture something like the jacket below. Just offer something ridiculously low and get ready to be laughed at but hold firm. Argue that it isn’t thick or you don’t really need it whilst raising your offering by a few dollars then head for the doors and they will drop their price quick. Be firm with your price and tell them X price and ill buy right now, you will get your way eventually after all they are making a profit. They will however let you walk if you just hold firm at something like $5, you do have to rise and find some sort of middle ground.
I found the whole process fun and enjoyable and once you have a purchase they will often be very lenient to your lowball on another item. I got the Under Armour T Shirt straight after buying the jacket by simply stating 30 (Chinese) or im going, sure enough she took that.
The following are my gets from visiting a couple of Chinese markets in Beijing. Note these markets where flash ones, like a shopping mall and a lot of the stalls didn’t even hassle you which isn’t a good sign for getting low-priced clothing.
