Can we stop using the word hack instead of tip now

“20 supermarket hacks to save money” “8 health hacks that doctors hate” What is with using the word hack instead of tip?? its been going on for years now yes with life-hacks being the standard of this click bait but surely the cycle has ended and the trend is on its way out?

The word hack has a few meanings from describing cutting and chopping to digging up the ground, it also can mean to modify and breakthrough security in computing terms. Not once does it anything like tips, guide or advice.

Now to my understanding when using the word hack for click bait titles it takes on the form of a gritty and grinding, putting two or more factors together to get a result. This result could be getting a plane seat upgrade from jumping though 14 loops, signing up and cancelling 4 things and taking a total of 4 hours to do.

Its understandable these websites need the clicks but hack is so commonly overused especially within the indie college student segment. Knacks, tricks, tips, guides, suggestion, work-around, advice, methods and secrets are all perfectly fine replacements for the word hack in your title but hey they might not get the clicks which alludes to the point I cant be the only one who sees hack in the title and thinks click bait.

No matter the format from blogs to YouTube to small “media” websites if you put 10 life hacks I aint clicking, I hope no one else does either because the “creator” did not go to the lengths of making a creative title nor did they come up with a few more “life hacks” to make their content stand out. It’s the same recycled trash.

Knacks, tricks, tips, guides, suggestion, work-around, advice, methods and secrets are all perfectly fine replacements for the word hack

As to if the fad use of the word hacks dying of soon? It’s unlikely as trends that are highly appealing and have a great effect on their target segments stick around for a long time.
