NBA shot distance data for ranges in 5ft intervals thanks to the NBA API. Data used was the average of each team per season, with the values being per game.
This type of data was first recorded for season 1996-97 and includes up to the all-star break for the 2020-21 NBA season.
The range intervals are:
- 5ft and less
- 5 to 9ft
- 10 to 14ft
- 15 to 19ft
- 20 to 24ft
- 25 to 29ft
- 30 to 34ft
- 40ft plus
The three-point line in the NBA is 22 feet in the corners and 23 feet elsewhere, which sees the data points 20-24ft, 25-29ft, 30-34ft and 40ft plus as 3 point range shots and 15-19ft as long mid-range.
