Ever clicked a link and seen a spooky popup or mention of the website you just came from on the new page? This is done through HTTP_REFERER.
$_SERVER["HTTP_REFERER"]
You can read more about $_SERVER here.
Also note the incorrect spelling of referrer which never got corrected because of how much it would break websites.
