Its late 2017 and i am saying this:
2 years from now Twitch will be bigger than YouTube
Twitch once known as a place to stream gaming live has already moved out of these early shoes. The purple juggernaut has already added the ability to upload videos which is the only thing YouTube had over it. Twitch is dominating the gaming scene, especially e leagues in which there is always a competition getting streamed from somewhere daily. With a massive chunk of the live streaming segement Twitch only needed one more thing to really compare to the vintage red of Youtube…. video uploads.
The Amazon owned Twitch now has video uploads, meaning content creators who dont game or stream can upload there own content. This makes Twitch powerful and highly diverse. The Twitch mobile app is great and fully functional, you get less ads with Twitch. The Interaction in Twitch is big, Twitch chat is a place of memes, trolls and joking around whilst YouTube comment section is full of kids saying “first” and “1 like = crush will kiss you tomorrow”.

For most of this year YouTube has come under fire for demonetisation issues for gamers and those that swear in videos. YouTube essentially making a slight step towards being a website for kids? But then we have the weirdness of Elsa and Spiderman dress up channels aimed at kids when these videos feature bizarre and disturbing things. When you have people dressing up as Trademarked characters, getting watched by children and doing what ever they please to get ad revenue we have issues. You almost have to wonder where YouTube would be at without Google as a parent owner, Would they be crushed by now? or would they have what Twitch has?
Either way competition is good, break down monopolies and let the people choose which is the better product and that to me seems the fresher, innovative Twitch.
