VMHaus $3 per month vps benchmarking

VMHaus currently offer servers in two locations, London and Los Angeles. With six tiers of plans for each location starting at $3 per month for 512MB ram, 10GB NVMe space and 1 shared cpu core through to $28 per month with 8192MB ram, 100GB NVMe space and 4 cpu shared cores.

VMHaus use a custom control panel called Bonsai for deploying and managing your servers. Instant activation and DOS protection are the main features. The status page for VMHaus at this time showed 100% uptime for all readings, impressive.

I deployed the $3 instance in both locations and ran some benchmarks, here they are:

The first thing I noticed was the horribly slow write speed in the Los Angeles location, I ran the benchmark a few more times just to check but it stayed around those speeds. Certainly very slow for something labeled as having NVMe. The Los Angeles server only generated 27.4 k request in the 5 second read test compared to 52.1 k for  London.

On the network speeds obviously the Los Angles server will be quicker to other North America locations as the London server will be to Europe servers but the London server was more impressive and had substantially better speeds to Asia locations which I found odd.

The London servers come with a 3.80GHz cpu (compared to 2.60GHz) which the benefits can be seen in the hashing, compressing and encrypting aspects in the nench.sh benchmark. With this faster cpu taking less time to complete the benches.

Now you know, the Los Angles location for VMHaus is sub standard compared to their London location which has considerably better read/write speeds, marginally better network globally and the faster cpu clock speed.
