McDonald’s really wants you to use their horrible app

The mymaccas app is McDonald’s take on the customize and pre-order your food trend. Now the app sucks big time, one and a half stars on the IOS store with problems like: Constant crashing, deducted money but McDonald’s not having the order, the location not working and heaps of other tidbits that make it a mess. There are a lot of reviews like this too, its pretty damning.

The mymaccas app has an account system and you could imagine what data McDonald’s would be taking from users. Locations, email, phone number, spending habits, choices and times. Put these with the deadly first name last name combination and they have themselves a lovely profile on their customers which they wouldn’t have had in the past with this accuracy.

By using the app you’re in part doing a survey, they see your likes and dislikes, how much you spend, what time you get your meal etc etc. McDonald’s can build profiles and work out what makes people happy, how to get more money and how to avoid bad product releases in the future.

McDonald’s is pushing this app so hard and want you to download it that badly they are offering free food and bonuses daily to use it. Check it out on OzBargain no surprises they’re lapping that up like it’s another Christmas.. AUD1.25 sundaes, buy one get one free big macs, quarter pounders and chickens sure is tempting.

But hey the app doesn’t even work. So maybe McDonald’s fix your app make it functional and then flog off your “incentives” for people to use the app and give you their data that you desire.
