At the start of the 2014 NFL season it became known that Microsoft signed a 5 year deal with the NFL to make their product, the surface pro tablet become the official tablet of the league. You can see why they would do this right, The NFL was becoming ever more technical and innovative in instant gameplay reviews and strategies. A tablet is perfect for this situation, small, portable but capable.
But it all went wrong from them, it seems they didn’t count for one thing. The non tech savvy commentators. The Microsoft Surface table was referred to as an Ipad many times, even in the feature segments on it “Ipad” was dropped. Not good for Microsoft considering the Ipad is the number one competitor and leader in the tablet market. I think Microsoft could have handled it better, maybe they did. But getting the commentators informed about the deal and big note Microsoft and the surface pro tablet at all times should have been done. As for the cost of the deal, well $US400 million sure is a lot to gain little territory in the tablet market. Saturation of Ads and school/education deals are what i see a better way to put that money.
